Crafting Queerness: Exploring Transgender Representation in Sexology Magazine

Presented by Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at The University of Akron at Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at The University of Akron

Visit the Cummings Center for a presentation and creative collaging workshop based on Sexology magazine. Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts student Sylvia Moran will present information on transgender representation within the magazine, including a discussion on Sexology’s unique space as a public forum for transgender people in the 20th century and highlighting some of the vibrant trans voices within the magazine. The presentation will be followed by a short Q&A.

Afterwards, the group will dive into zine-making, where visitors will create collage mood boards and queer art based on the various trans icons throughout Sexology’s run. All materials and supplies will be provided. This event is free and open to the public, and all attendees will receive free admission to the Cummings Center’s Sexology: Science & Sensationalism exhibition.
