In the spirit of the Gospel, we are committed to educate the whole person; to lead and to serve, enlightening the mind, developing the body, touching the heart, and inspiring the soul.

ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY SCHOOL CREST
The merging of Akron’s first two Catholic schools, St. Vincent and St. Mary, is portrayed in the official crest of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (STVM). Featured in gold on a green background are a cross, a torch, a plow and a sword. The cross symbolizes the religious foundation of the school. The torch, symbolizing learning, differs from traditional designs in that it is held by two hands, one representing each school. The plow and sword symbolize commitment to social justice and were part of the crest of the late Bishop Clarence Issenman, who directed the formation of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.

ABOUT

St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is a four-year, co-educational, college preparatory Catholic high school. We have been an integral part of the Akron community for more than 100 years, providing quality education rooted in Catholic faith. More than 17,000 alumni are proud to be a part of our rich history.

St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is governed by our Board of Trustees, in cooperation with the administrative team, faculty, parents, and support organizations, and operates with the blessing and guidance of the Diocese of Cleveland. We meet all standards of the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association, North Central Association, and the State of Ohio. Our goal is to provide for the well-rounded spiritual, academic, emotional, and physical development of our students.

Our curriculum includes College Prep, Honors and Advanced Placement courses, as well as the Specific Educational Needs Unit for students who qualify.*

*Education services are provided by Intervention Specialists for those students with Specific Learning Disabilities as indicated on an IEP. STVM is a provider for Jon Peterson and the Autism Scholarship. The unit provides specific services. Families must provide the Admissions Office with a copy of the student’s IEP (Individualized Education Program) and ETR (Evaluation Team Report) in the fall of 8th grade. After review by the Admissions Committee, families will be notified of STVM’s capacity to offer services to the student.

On average, 97% of our graduates pursue baccalaureate studies at public and private universities, with nearly 70% of each year’s senior class receiving college scholarships or grants.
