The Summit Lapidary Club began in 1946 as The Falls Gem Club.  In 1974, it was reorganized as The Summit Club. In 1982, we became a member of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical Society .

Membership

Our membership consists of over 100 individuals all brought together by their interest in the art of lapidary.  Our members interests range from gem and mineral collecting, jewelry making, faceting and silversmithing.  Our membership has access to our on-site equipment which includes slab and trim saws, grinders and polishers.

Benefits

As a member of The Summit Lapidary Club you are able to participate in the many classes that are offered at our Club House. All of our classes are taught in house, by our members who volunteer their time and knowledge to help us grow as a group.  Club sponsored trips are another benefit of being a member.  Some recent excursions include The Agate Expo, Mining in NC and many collecting trips for our State Gem-Ohio Flint.  But the best benefit is meeting and exploring the knowledge of other members.  With knowledge comes growth!

Community

Our Club is a member-driven organization. From club officers to class teachers, all are individuals who have volunteered their time to help sustain and grow our club.  As a club we feel an obligation to the communities we live in.  We annually sponsor a local “Adopt a Spot”, make and donate trees and ornaments to Annual Holiday Tree Festival, benefiting Akron Children’s Hospital. These are just a few things we gladly do to help in our communities
