The International Institute of Akron contributes to the well being of our community by creating and implementing programs and services that assist the foreign-born in integrating into our society, promote public awareness of the value of diversity, and encourage international communication.
Founded in 1916, the International Institute of Akron (IIA) is a nonprofit agency that provides services to the foreign-born in the Akron and Summit County community. Our programs include ESL and citizenship classes, translation and interpreting, job readiness training, reception and placement of new refugees, and more.
The International Institute of Akron is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice Board of Immigration Appeals. Our immigration counselors are accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to represent clients. IIA is also a member of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI).
