Young and old fisherman can take advantage of a stocked pond. No fishing license is required. Residents are encouraged to throw back the small ones.

Tennis and basketball are also popular activities at Boettler Park. From April through October the four tennis courts and one basketball court are available from dawn to dusk.

Picnicking has become a favorite activity for families at Boettler Park. The 2,400 square foot pavilion is a popular place to host family reunions, parties, and other celebrations. The Freda Hunter Bates pavilion can accomodate 200 people. For more information about rentals, please click here.

Boettler Park is home to the historic 1885 Lichtenwalter one room schoolhouse. With the support of the City of Green and numerous non-profit donors as well as resident donors, the restoration of this one hundred nineteen year old structure would have never happened. The building is currently used by the Green Local School system and its elementary school classes. The Historic Preservation Commission works closely with Green schools in developing the curriculum to be used for these elementary school classes.

Boettler Park also boasts the award winning “Heritage Hill Playground.” This 30,000 square foot playground was built by more than 400 community volunteers. The cost of the structures, over $100,000, was raised through community donations and foundation grants. In 2004, the playground won a category 5 award for the “best new recreation facility” in the state of Ohio. Heritage Hill playground is visited by thousands of children annually.
