The Ohio & Erie Canalway is a National Heritage Area – designated by Congress in 1996 – to help preserve and celebrate the rails, trails, landscapes, towns and sites that grew up along the first 110 miles of the canal that helped Ohio and our nation grow. Annually, within our borders, over 26 million visits to venues of culture, history, recreation and nature take place. We encourage travel in the NHA by Towpath Trail, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, or along an America’s Byway drive. And, we’re proud to be an affiliated unit of the National Park Service. 110 Miles. Endless Possibilities.
