Our very first event, “Oh Give Thanks : DIY Napkins and Holders”, is a creative opportunity to eat, drink and be merry with other fabulous people, make a gift to give to a friend (or to yourself), and give back to a local charity – all in one fun-filled evening. The first event will be held at Hazel Tree Interiors near downtown Akron.
At “Oh Give Thanks : DIY Napkins and Holders”, you will learn wire-wrapping FUNdamentals and how to create designs on denim napkins, inspired by the cyanotypes of Anne Atkins. You’ll leave with your own, custom-designed set of dinner napkins and accompanying wire-wrapped holders – plus the knowledge to work on more projects like it at home.
A portion of proceeds from “Oh Give Thanks : DIY Napkins and Holders” will benefit Gennesaret, an all volunteer non-profit that shelters homeless families and feeds the poor. The $50 event registration fee covers all the special tools you’ll need to create a beautiful set of 6 napkins and wire-wrapped napkin holders (An additional set of 6 napkins/napkin rings can be made for $15 if you’d like to make a set of 12.)
Heavy appetizers to fill you up while you enjoy the evening are included in the event fee. You are welcome to bring your own beverages.
Because sharp tools will be used, this class is limited to adult students. Aprons will be provided, as we will be working with bleach on cotton swabs and with paint brushes. Please wear clothing that you won’t mind possibly staining, in case you drop a swab or brush while you work.
