RESIST THE FLOW: The Art of Traditional Viscosity

Presented by Rubber City Prints, Inc. at Rubber City Prints, Inc., Akron OH

Apr 21 - 22 2018
RESIST THE FLOW: The Art of Traditional Viscosity

Viscosity printing opens a door of possibilities. Deep saturated colors that slowly fade to off white hues. Line work uncompromised by the clarity of the image above it.

Viscosity printing is a combination of monoprinting and intaglio. Building heavily layered plates allows you to roll different thicknesses of ink over to receive infinite variations on the same design. In this class we will look at the roots of viscosity printing and then after a brief sketch session begin to build viscosity plates from mat board. After a brief talk on ink thickness and mixing techniques, we will ink and print a varied addition of 15. This will allow us to explore color variation and mixed additions in this experimental and exciting intaglio medium.
