Formerly of Portland, Ore., nomadic art-folksters Strangled Darlings make rich, bold music with little more than mandolin, tenor bass their voices and a little foot percussion. Now semi-permanently based in South Londonderry, Vermont — though the road remains their true home — the duo aims for more than entertainment with their music. Jessica Anderly and George Veech address topical issues from global politics to consumerism. And literary references abound — their band name derives from a William Faulkner quote.
