Chardon Polka Band at Lake Anna Gazebo

What happens when teenage accordion players aren’t allowed in marching band? They start a polka band. That’s the story of “The Chardon Polka Band”, a group that started nine years ago. This off-the-wall teenage polka band quickly made a name for themselves playing for their peers and local nursing home residents. The group expanded quickly and started booked jobs at various venues and events across northeast Ohio. Today, the band continues and is more successful than ever.

The band’s range of style is as equally eccentric as its members. The Chardon Polka Band plays traditional polkas reminiscent of “The Lawrence Welk Show”, a style that has endeared them to traditional polka fans, but sometimes morphs into punk-rock renditions of the same songs, modified to bring in a younger audience. They throw in comedic renditions of oddball favorites, bizarre audience participation songs, and even a punk-rock polka cover of Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”!
