“Trash Can Mural”

High School Art Contest

Contest to design a public art mini-mural!

 

Northwest invites  local Akron-area high school students to participate in our

“Trash Can Mural” Art Contest!

Contest entails designing a concept to transform the

exterior of a trash bin into a “mini mural”.

 

Concepts should be presented on a piece of 8.5 x 11 paper, horizontally oriented

The winner will get to turn their design into reality by painting it onto a large piece of material which will be installed onto the exterior of one of our trash bins outside of the center.

Winner will also receive a $20 gift card to Pat Catan’s.

2nd place winner will receive a $10 gift card for their efforts.

Volunteer hours available upon request.

Decorating the bins will encourage more people to throw away their trash and help keep the neighborhood beautiful! Winning student may add this project, sponsored by The City of Akron, to their resume for college applications, etc.

Please submit your concepts between April 5th– May 2nd

Last day to submit is May 2nd!

 

PLEASE INCLUDE with submission:

-contact info (full name, email, & phone number)

-your grade &  name of  your high school

 

Students may submit their designs in person at:

Northwest Family Recreation Center,

1730 Shatto Ave. Akron, OH 44313

 

OR scan a photo of your artwork & email the submission to

nfrcdance@gmail.com

 

Winners will be announced May 4th!

Painting may begin week of May 7th, to be completed by mid- June.

Winner will have access to our art room & art supplies to work on the project!
