With this year's Easter holiday again arriving early, Summit County Children Services is asking for community donations to help brighten the season for children in agency custody by providing them with festive Easter baskets. Especially needed this year are donations of assembled and wrapped baskets with items for teen girls, teen boys and infants.

Monetary donations are certainly always welcome – but for those donating assembled and wrapped Easter baskets here are some suggested items to include. For boys’ baskets: small outdoor toys, cars and trucks, activity books and markers, hand-held games, action figures, gadgets, candy and chocolate bunnies. For teens' baskets: snacks, school locker items, personal care products, candy and chocolate bunnies. For infants' baskets: soft stuffed animals, infant care items, rattles and pacifiers.

Items should be delivered to Summit County Children Services, 264. S. Arlington Street, Akron, Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 6 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

As a public, levy-funded agency, Summit County Children Services is limited in its ability to use levy dollars for certain expenses, so the agency relies on the generosity of the community to provide children in custody with ‘extras’ such as Easter baskets, school supplies and holiday gifts. For more information on making a donation, please call Summit County Children Services’ Community Relations Department at (330) 379-1994 or log onto www.summitkids.org.
