Opening Reception for EDGE EFFECTS, New Work by Maggie Duff

Akron Soul Train’s new exhibition will feature the works of our August artist-in-resident, Maggie Duff.

Akron Soul Train announces its show “Edge Effects” with an opening reception on Saturday, October 26th from 6:00-8:00pm.  Work presented is a culmination of the study of plantlife, urban transformations and formal art elements by Akron artist, Maggie Duff.  Maggie is influenced by the ever-changing decay and rebuilding of neighborhoods, and the displacement of their individuals and memories.  Particular to Maggie’s work are the important roles plants assume within these settings. They become barriers of a sort, define property values and sometimes offer nourishment.  Maggie’s paintings, sculptures and video will be on display at the Akron Soul Train Gallery through November 22nd.

Akron Soul Train is an artist residency program with gallery space located in downtown Akron.  Artists are provided with a stipend to create new work and engage the community with a special program component.  AST Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday 11-4, with extended hours for 3rd Thursdays.
