The New Earth Foundation was founded in 1997 by John Bigelow Loveland, who upon receiving a family inheritance dating back to his great-grandfather, a self-made magnate in nickel mining, decided to donate his inheritance and allocate it for benevolent, peace, and harmony-furthering processes.
To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for innovative projects with the potential to enhance life on planet Earth and brighten the future, furthering peace. The foundation will award grants in support of pioneering yet practical projects in many fields of endeavor, including but not limited to environmental initiatives aimed at eliminating pollution and saving the planet’s ecosystems; community efforts that create innovative educational models that prepare youth to become the socially responsible leaders of the future; and strategies that offer economic improvement and opportunities. The foundation will prioritize projects with the potential to be replicated, as well as smaller, newer 501(c)(3) organizations.
To be eligible, candidates must be tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Organizations without such status may apply under an umbrella organization or fiscal sponsor, although the application must be accompanied by a letter of agreement detailing the project and the nature of the sponsoring organization’s support or involvement.
Letters of inquiry are due July 1, 2020. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by October 1, 2020.
