Rags to Riches Ring

Presented by Peninsula Art Academy at Online/Virtual Space

May 16 2021
Rags to Riches Ring

In this Zoom online class, Kristina introduces studio metalsmiths to casting safely at home.
A home metalsmithing space is a must for this class as it requires basic metalsmithing skills like soldering, sawing, filing, and polishing as well as a safe place to work at high temperatures and proper ventilation. A high temperature torch is also a must!
If you have a home studio, you probably have silver scraps like mangled jump rings, partially melted pieces, and cut offs. Kristina will take you through the process of setting up for casting (including seasoning your crucible and safety), recycling silver, cuttlebone casting, and flush setting. This is a fool proof method for successfully casting rings in cuttlebone! Kristina also will demonstrate an easy flush setting for faceted round stones. Take all the guess work out of selecting the right tools like crucibles, burs, drill bits, and stones and let Kristina provide all the right the right things for you in her optional Tool Kit.

ADMISSION INFO

Class fee is $85.00. Tool Kits for this class are $125 and are available through the instructor.
