Virtual Dance Club

Presented by The National Center for Choreography at the University of Akron at Online/Virtual Space

Jul 15 2021
Virtual Dance Club

Join us for the July edition of NCCAkron’s Virtual Dance Club — a chance to watch dance online with other curious audiences and have an informal discussion afterwards.

Virtual Dance Club returns this week with curation by choreographer Mike Esperanza (New York, NY)!

Join us on Thursday, July 15 in our social experiment for dance audiences to the virtual space. Participants watch dance together and engage in an informal discussion afterwards. This session will be hosted by NCCAkron team member Megan Wright.

Mike’s curated selection of dances explore reality and fantasy, slow-motion action movie sequences, and ensemble work inspired by his drum corps days. (The images in this event listing are from Mike’s dance films Flood and Outsiders, which we’ll watch in full during Virtual Dance Club.)

Virtual Dance Club will take place through a video Zoom meeting. We have found that using a computer, laptop, or tablet work best for these kinds of meetings, but you can join with a smartphone as well. All you need is an internet connection, webcam, and your curiosity!

Enrollment is free, and strictly limited to twenty participants — sign up today at the link in ... view more »
