Working in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees, the Director of Development is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Akron Civic Theatre’s $750,000+ contributed revenue program. The Director of Development is a member of the senior staff responsible to work with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees in developing strategic direction for the theater.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in arts administration, business, public administration, non-profit management, or related field
- Strong background in fund development
- A minimum of five years of experience with proven track record in fund development is required
- Ability to act as a public spokesperson for and interpreter of the mission and programs of the Akron Civic Theatre to the community at large as needed
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with the Board and staff
- Ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and independently
- Computer literacy and experience with donor tracking software

Responsibilities

- The Director of Development is a member of the senior staff responsible to work with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees in developing strategic direction for the theater
- Oversee public-sector and private-sector grant-seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements
- Oversee the membership and annual fund programs, including mailings and annual fundraising drives
- Oversee the corporate membership and sponsorship (event and gala) programs, including ad sales for the season program
- Continue to grow the major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors
- Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them
- Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies
- Establish good working relationships with key community stakeholders
- Represent the Akron Civic Theatre at community activities to maintain and enhance the organization’s community profile

Salary
- Full-time, salary position ($70,000.00 to $75,000.00) with benefits
