Playwrights Local 4181 announces its Spring Workshops, a set of sessions for kids and adults on Saturday, April 16 at Waterloo Arts.
All sessions are free, with a suggested donation of $8.

Workshop: “Playwriting for Kids” (Ages 9-13) with Elana Averbach

“Get creative with an ensemble of emerging playwrights, and write your own short adaptation of a fairytale or myth!” Taught by Cleveland-based writer, educator, and therapist Elana Averbach.

Workshop: “Dramaturgy for Everyone” with Arwen Mitchell

“Explore the essential craft of playwriting, with applications for any kind of theater practitioner. If you’re interested in helping with new plays or have your own work in progress, this session will provide essential tools for discussion and development.” Led by Playwrights Local 4181’s Teaching Artist Arwen Mitchell.

“Found text is a creative form that takes material from other sources and reframes it as a literary work. This session addresses the application of this technique for the creation of new works for the stage.” Taught by Jennifer Schlueter, associate professor of Theatre at Ohio State University.
