Museum · Nonprofit Organization · Performance & Event Venue My walls have lived since 1834. My story is timeless. It is the Greatest Story Ever Told. There is no greater power than Love. Farnam Manor has long been a sacred place with special energies of love. If you have ever visited this place, you can testify. It’s real. Everett Farnam spent 7 years building a magnificent manor for his bride. Each nail was pounded with love as he built the home where he would raise his family. He originally came to the land in 1812 when his father, John Farnam, traveled with his family from Connecticut. He was among those early pioneers who believed a good life waited for them in the rolling beauty of land unseen. John had acquired the land because he had served in the Revolutionary War as a special agent for George Washington. John Farnam had a lot of courage to stand up for what he believed. All men are created equal. We are one. During the 1920’s, Ella Mayor added my robust rounded solarium, a north wing extension and rear extension to the structure. She operated an elegant gentleman’s club. The Danish Smorgasbord restaurant made it’s home here from 1948 til 1972. Theo and Ana Marie Kirk lived upstairs and operated the family business downstairs. By the early 1990s, Farnam Manor had laid by the wayside. The Zaruba family purchased the property and put their heart and soul into renovations. Hard times came and the house laid vacant and abandoned. Many wanted it demolished. Visions of a bright future came along in 2007 when Tim and Kathleen Magner formed a grassroots organization , Farnam Foundation, Inc. Everett Farnam said ” God and I are partners on this land– I feel under great obligation to handle things right.” Our mission is to share the message of Love and Light for the highest good through the preservation of this historic landmark. Fine Art Findings

Fine Art Findings – In between custom framing orders, I make stuff out of the extra moulding. Upcycled elaborate boxes and mirrors made from recycled picture frames and vintage finds, reconstructed jewelry, clothing embellished with leftover lace, cards, gifts, and whatever else I find. Using exclusively vintage and found objects, I create new things from old. Most are functional, such as my rather elaborate boxes, mirrors and photo frames, made from leftover picture frame moulding. Upcycled jewelry: including earrings, zipper pulls, key rings and pendants made from broken jewelry, keys and whatever else I find. And Leftover Lace – my “gifts you feel good about”, hand made cards, gifts and clothing embellished with leftover lace. I sell at area art festivals and vintage markets, have a strong online presence, and promote the concept of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Painting local landmarks and people, Mary Catherine also offers group instruction for adults and children. On display is work by current and former students. Portraits Local Landscape Private Art Lessons Marketing and Fundraising through Art Education “I simply love portraying beauty through art” Mary Catherine holds a BFA in Art, and a M. Ed in Instructional Design. Her pastel work is featured annually in the Solon and Chagrin Falls Town Planner productions. Since 2009, she has been focusing her talents nationally on oil portraits. Recently, Mary Catherine was accepted to an oil portrait workshop with Wende Caporale, currently the preeminent portrait artist in the U.S. Mary Catherine’s work has been exhibited in Chicago, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Cleveland, Lexington and New York City. Locally, her work has been shown at: Robinson Memorial Hospital, Hudson’s Restaurant, Laurel Lake, FastFrame, and Baycrafters Annual Juried Art Shows. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Akron Society of Artist and the Hudson Society of Artists. Her work can be viewed at http://mary-c-haneline.artistwebsites.com and is currently being exhibited at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Mary Catherine grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and completed her fine arts and education degrees at Kent State University. After graduation, she married her high school and they have five wonderful children. She began teaching art at Saint Ignatius Elementary School, continuing on with the Bay Village School District, Lorain Community College, Seton Catholic School and Solon Center for the Arts. Mary Catherine has been the recipient of several grants and awards for art education and journalism. In 2009, she graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a master’s degree in instructional design and online adult education. Her master’s capstone involved advising art teachers in marketing their art programs while enhancing their art curriculum.

Mary Schiller Myers School of Art: The University of Akron

At The University of Akron’s Myers School of Art, students study side-by-side with talented and caring faculty members who are committed to helping turn aspirations into accomplishments. We have 19 full-time faculty members with about the same number of part-time faculty members. We also have seven full-time staff professionals, including a dedicated adviser to assist our students. Folk Hall, home of the Myers School of Art, was once a Cadillac auto dealership, complete with spacious showrooms and service bays. Now completely remodeled, it is among the largest academic art facilities in the region. Folk Hall houses the Emily Davis Gallery, the Student Projects Gallery, an auditorium, administrative and faculty offices, two classrooms, 28 studios, the Visual Resource Center, the Graphic Services Center, and the William Hogarth Seminar Room.

Mustill Store Museum

The Mustill Store Museum and House are Cascade Park’s showcase pieces. Located in their original site at Lock 15, these faithfully restored canal-era buildings are believed to have been built in the 1850s, although the exact date is unknown. Three generations of Mustills serviced canal users until the late 1880s. Their story typifies that of many businesses that sprung up along the canal near the locks. Yet, the family’s success and social popularity made this a special place to be. Take a walk back in time and view the many interactive exhibits detailing the heyday of the canal and it’s role in shaping our region. Beverages, snacks, souvenirs and locally made goods are available for purchase during museum hours. The Mustill Store is free to the general public, handicap accessible, and perfect for all ages. Cascade Locks Park Association is headquartered in the Mustill Store Museum in the Cascade Locks Park.
