Clothes for Comfort: Clothing Kits for Sexual Assault Survivors

Did you know 1 out of every 6 American women and 1 out of 33 American men have been the victim of attempted or completed rape in their lifetime?

However 2 out of 3 sexual assaults go unreported and those who make the choice to come forward face many challenges ahead of them.

When sexual assault victims seek medical attention and rape kits are performed, those women, men and children are asked to surrender their clothing for DNA evidence. Once clothing has been surrendered, the traumatized victim has nothing else to wear home but a hospital gown…only adding insult to injury. Together, with your help, we can provide victims with the resources necessary to take the first step on the road to healing.

What: Join us for an evening of hope and healing as we create clothing kits for victims of sexual assault. These kits will be available at Akron General Hospital through the help of their PATH center, which provides support to victims reporting abuse.
