Richard Elliot returns once again to The Tangier Cabaret stage after releasing his new 2016 album, Summer Madness, a follow-up to his 2014 critically acclaimed album, Lip Service. Elliot thought up the album before the making, digging deep for funky melodies whilst keeping his jazzy, R&B roots. “When I was growing up in the ’70s and first learning to play the saxophone,” he says, “I was mostly attracted to instrumentally based R&B and to jazz that had R&B roots. This record definitely goes down that path, leaning more on the funk side.” Summer Madness bestows Elliot’s appreciation and love for his band as they composed music in harmony without hesitation.
