The Harpo Foundation was established in 2006 to support emerging visual artists who are under recognized in their field. The foundation also seeks to stimulate creative inquiry and to encourage new modes of thinking about art.

To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for its Grants for Visual Artists program. Through the annual program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to under-recognized visual artists age 21 or older. Grants are intended to support the development of the artist and his/her work.

To be eligible, applicants must be a self-defined and under-recognized visual artist age 21 and a citizen of the United States. Students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program are not eligible.

There is a $15 application fee.

For complete program guidelines, information about previous grant recipients, and application instructions, see the Harpo Foundation website.
