Join us for our next Community Issues Session, which takes place Tuesday, April 25, at the new Highland Üniversal Gatheringspot (HÜG), in Highland Square, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Please note that doors will open at 3:30 p.m. The informational session focuses on arts & culture and will bring attention to organizations that are providing educational and artistically enriching opportunities, featuring perspectives from providers and students, along with live performances.

The panel of presenters includes Akron-based pianist, composer and educator Theron Brown, who will discuss the performing arts programs for students available through the nonprofit Open Tone Music; Ismail Al-Amin and Ameer Williamson, from Akron Urban Arts Academy, who will discuss the academy’s arts and media education for local students, including an emphasis on hip-hop culture; and representatives and students from Shanti Community Farms, an after school agriculture program, whose Black Beanz dance troupe has gained local and regional acclaim. The session also will feature performances from the Black Beanz and Theron Brown.
The event is free to attend, but space is limited, and RSVP is required. Parking is available in the lot across the street. The session will also be livestreamed to ACF’s Facebook page.
