CVAC: Human Figure Exhibition

CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER’S HUMAN FIGURE EXHIBITION
The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center Presents their Human Figure Exhibition, on display from March 10th – April 18th, 2020. 

CVAC is excited to showcase the talents of participating artists depictions of the Human Figure. The realistic and or abstracted subject matter of the artwork had to be related to the human figure, with all mediums encouraged. The juror Debrah Butler had the difficult job of jurying the submissions and selecting the First-Place, Second-place, Third-place and honorable mentions award winners of this exhibition.

This exhibition opened to the public on Tuesday, March 10th and runs through April 16th.  Awards will be distributed as the winners are celebrated during the Human Figure Exhibition Artists Reception on Friday, April 17th from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. Patrons will have the opportunity to mingle with the artists, enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres and purchase art during this free reception.

Juror Biography: Debrah Butler

Debrah Butler graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in painting which offered extensive study in anatomy and life classes. These formed the foundation for her realistic, detailed drawings and pastel paintings. Much of Debrah’s work has been portraiture, human and animal.

Debrah has exhibited in group and juried national shows around the country, garnering many prizes in her career. These shows include galleries and museums in NM, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Wisconsin, Chicago, the Salmagundi Club in NYC, and the Butler Institute in Youngstown, Ohio Her work was selected for the Cleveland Museum of Art May Shows.

Debrah was one of the founding members of Group 10 Gallery in Kent. She has also had a painting conservation business for 40 years out of her studio in Kent where she resides with her husband/artist, John Sharp.
