Cuyahoga Valley Art Center invites the public to its Whiskey Painters of America Exhibition & Art Sale

The esteemed Whiskey Painters of America (WPA) are showcasing their talents within the 43rd Annual Whiskey Painters of America Exhibition & Art Sale. This prestigious exhibition will be displayed at the renowned Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, from September 10 to October 24, 2024.

This exhibit displays the largest collection of Whiskey Paintings for sale in one location in the world. A Whiskey Painting is a watercolor miniature, no larger than 4” x 5” in size, and is created by dipping one’s paintbrush in some form of alcoholic spirits instead of water. The WPA was officially established in 1962, at Tangier Night Club in Akron, Ohio to promote the fine art of painting in miniature. To become a member of this exclusive organization, an applicant must first have a bona fide member of the WPA as a sponsor. The Whiskey Painters of America is the most unique and exclusive miniature painting society in the world.

But the true heart of the exhibition stands with the community. CVAC encourages the public to participate in its People’s Choice selection process, allowing them to vote for their favorite artworks. This democratic approach gives the public a voice in recognizing and celebrating the works that resonate with them. These votes shall determine 3 award-winning paintings to be announced at the Artist Reception on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Admission is free to this reception which promises a delightful experience featuring Live Whiskey Painting Demonstrations, a delectable spread of hors d’oeuvres, and a refreshing selection of drinks. The final People’s Choice votes will be tallied with winners announced at 6:30 PM during the event, adding an exciting element to the evening.
