From 1969 to the early 2000s, Dennis Kleidon served as a professor of art at The University of Akron, where he inspired students pursuing careers in the expanding multidisciplinary field of visual communication design. Kleidon is also responsible for launching the school’s graphic design program – the largest program within the Mary Schiller Myers School of Art today.
Kleidon is also the founder of Kleidon and Associates, a marketing communications firm in Fairlawn, Ohio. Additionally, he paints on canvas and on archival paper, bringing abstractions to brilliant life on meditative backgrounds that serve to increase their power.
In his most recent series, paint explodes out of the graphic borders to express an aggressive dynamic over the thoughtfully relaxed background textures.
