First Annual Akron Music Awards brought to you by Chris Butler

Announcing the First Annual Akron Music Awards show brought to you by Chris Butler featuring performances by The Beyonderers, Fancy Legs, and Funeral Proposals

Chris Butler is an Akron-based songwriter and musician, and is both a product of, and a raging fan of “the Akron sound”. Chris has partnered with The Panza Foundation in Cleveland to coordinate an Akron-centric award, with the mission of bringing our vibrant music scene – past, present and future – to a wider audience, and to confirm Akron as a creative center unlike any other.

The first honorees are thrashsurf- extremos THE BEYONDERERS! Honorable Mentions this year are Power Pop masters FANCY LEGS and the up-and coming indie band FUNERAL PROPOSALS. Winners will receive a stipend to help with recording costs, gear upgrades, merch, or whatever they need. They will also gain access to The Panza Foundation’s creative and music business resources as well as Chris’ support and assistance.

EASY FREE DOWNTOWN AKRON PARKING
Parking is a breeze when you’re coming to Musica! Event parking is FREE at the LIBRARY PARKING DECK at 40 S. HIGH STREET, on the corner of Market and High Street. This deck is across the street from the Akron Art Museum and attached to Akronym Brewing. Take the cross-walk at Market Street and you’ll be at Musica! Parking is free on nights and weekends. Please don’t park on the lot on Maiden Lane outside of Musica as those spots are reserved for residents of The Lofts.
