Little Amal Comes to Akron / International Day of Peace

Little Amal – whose name means ‘hope’ in Arabic – is a 12-foot puppet of a refugee Syrian child who has traveled to 13 countries.

Little Amal – whose name means \’hope\’ in Arabic – is a 12-foot puppet of a refugee Syrian child who has traveled to 13 countries.
Starting from the vibrant streets of Boston on September 7th, Amal’s journey will end on the sunny shores of San Diego on November 5th. Along the way, Amal will visit Akron on September 23 at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Tallmadge Ave and North Main Street.
Together, we will amplify her message through her incredible journey, empowering the voices of those she represents and the communities she’ll meet in Akron. We can’t wait to welcome Little Amal to our city and spread hope!
Schedule of Events:
1:30 – 2:00 Community arrives at the intersection of Tallmadge Ave and North Main Street and lines the street.
2:00 – 3:00 Walk with Amal. Write on bricks that will be added to a load that she drags down North Main Street to Peoples Park.
