Ohio Band Directors Conference

The 50th Annual Ohio Band Directors Conference will be held on Saturday, December 4 in the Student Union.  The first concert will start at 8:15 a.m.  The conference will include guest composer Johan de Meij, founder and CEO of Amstel Music, and guest conductor and UA alumnus John Climer, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Visit www.uakron.edu/bands for a complete schedule of events.

Guests will include:

Guest Composer: Mr. Johan de Meij, composer and conductor

Honor Band Guest Conductor: John Climer, Director of University Bands and Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts

The event will culminate with the recognition of the OBDC Hall of Fame members and the 2021 Inductee. This award is given to an outstanding retired public school band director who has promoted excellence in music education throughout his or her career. This award is presented during the OBDC Honor Band concert, comprised of musicians representing high schools from throughout the state of Ohio.
