Organist Dorothy Papadakos accompanies silent film Nosferatu

Organist Dorothy Papadakos will accompany the silent film, “Nosferatu.” First concert in the Arts@Holy Trinity Concert Series – 2015/2016.

Organist Dorothy Papadakos will accompany the silent film, “Nosferatu.”  Papadakos is a member of the seven-time Grammy Award winning Paul Winter Consort.    Papadakos has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Barnard College in NYC and a Master’s Degree in Organ Performance from Juilliard School.

Nosferatu is a 1922 German Expressionist horror film and is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.  Names and other details changed because the studio could not obtain the rights to the novel.  The original score was composed by Hans Erdmann and performed by an orchestra during the projection.  Most of the score has been lost and what remains is only a reconstitution of the score as it was played in 1922.
