Natural Building Techniques for Resilience

Join us for monthly networking meetings on a wide variety of sustainability topics. Meet others who care about our environment – and our community.

“Natural Building” is the topic of the June GAINS meeting. Our speakers include sustainability expert, Paul Feezel, who will share the joys, challenges and lessons learned in building a strawbale home. And we’ll learn about cob construction from acclaimed natural builder, Uncle Mud.

Besides hearing about natural building, we’ll have the opportunity to see the new outdoor cob pizza oven/rocket stove at Crown Point Ecology Center, our host this month. Even better – freshly baked pizza is planned, so “be green” and bring a plate and your own beverage/water bottle. You can also bring a folding chair to sit outside by the oven before/after the meeting.

Come at 5:30 (or earlier) to network and/or explore the beautiful grounds; you’ll discover a medicine wheel, a labyrinth, vegetable gardens (CSA), permaculture swales, and much more. The program will begin at 6:15 in the barn.
