Courtney Cable

Courtney T. Cable is an artist and a cultural producer. She has explored and worked in multiple mediums and enjoys their cross pollination. Singing and songwriting, arts and cultural organizing, curating, jewelry making, stone cutting, and documentary photography are among her muses. As a jewelry artist, Courtney creates spiritually functional pieces that communicate on an emotional level. She is drawn to create positive, inspirational, and motivational pieces to provoke inner thought, contemplation, and action. Words and quotes can make a piece personal and more powerful, especially when purposefully hidden.   Natural elements and the raw visual appeal of metals are what draw her to the medium. For such a rigid material, it has the capability of being malleable and is an effective expressive vehicle for her creative visions. She feeds on the precision, skill, and problem solving required to execute ideas and seeks to achieve high-quality finished pieces. It is through the exploration of metal that she has found an effective voice to express her philosophies, values, and dreams. The jewelry, songs, and other creations on this page are designed, handcrafted, and composed solely by Courtney T. Cable. Together, as a grouping, they represent her journey into and through art, with metalsmithing being her more recent endeavor. In her journey, she wills to inspire.

Cameron Cabot

Cameron Cabot is a Northeast Ohio artist and arts administrator who believes in the arts’ unique ability to cause positive social change, to promote unity, and to spark authentic human expression. Cameron is a vocalist, music and production director, recording artist, entertainer, arranger, actor collaborator, vocalist, songwriter, and avid arts supporter. From the pubs of the UK to national conference stages to the cabaret room at Playhouse Square to the academic experimental black box, Cameron’s artistic ventures are as various as the artists and communities with whom he loves to collaborate! Cameron uses his art to entertain and lift spirits…he hopes you’ll join him!

Steve Caler

Visual Arts: Painting

My work is a personal dialogue between me and the canvas. It is experiential. It is largely about surface and texture and color. My art has been filled with calligraphic imagery since I first began painting. Edges are also important to me. Each painting is about the moment, my inability to forgo a horizon line and wrestling with the image until I help it find its way out. Process is a big part of my paintings, which I carve and scratch at until finally, they are abandoned.

Time Cat

Time Cat formed as a 2-piece rock band in 2011 by guitarist/singer Jeri Sapronetti and drummer Sam Caler after they met at the legendary “Jam Nite” hosted by Sapronetti in their mutual hometown, Akron, Ohio. They went on to record their first full-length album “Your City” and toured across the country multiple times on self-booked tours, having lots of crazy adventures with wild Americans. Upon returning from a 30-city tour in 2014, luck would bring multi-instrumentalist Colten Huffman on bass, which brought much needed depth to the duo’s raw sound. In late 2018, with no discussion whatsoever, guitarist Donald Alan (The Tenants, Blond Boy Grunt and The Groans) began jamming with the trio adding a new dynamic with incendiary licks and inter-weaving rhythms. With an ever developing sound, Time Cat has become one of Northeast Ohio’s premier rock bands. With influences like Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and Jefferson Airplane, listeners are quickly immersed in a world that is familiar, yet completely new. In their time, they’ve had the incredible privilege of opening for the likes of Chrissie Hynde & The Pretenders, Juliette Lewis, Muse, AFI, and Fantastic Negrito. They’ve also been featured on Vice’s musical arm Noisey and had a song played on the MTV show “War of The Worlds (33)” Right now, they are completing work on their 3rd studio album while releasing tracks over the summer from a previously unreleased EP. “I want to say thank you for keeping ’the thing’ alive. Marcella Chapman

I am a self-taught artist, working since November 2017 in alcohol ink, watercolor, colored pencil, and watercolor pencil. A wide variety of subjects appeal to me, although animals are my particular passion. I express psychological states through landscapes, still life paintings, and portraits of animals. The goal of my art is to invite you into the beauty of a subject so that you can find your own heart’s feelings within a painting. I support my local animal rescues with proceeds from my art, and donate paintings of the animals who most need rescue. I have art currently on display at the Akron Metro Station and Luminous Life Holistic Health, and have exhibited at Summit Artspace, Jupiter Studio, and Western Reserve Hospital.

Joan Colbert

Visual Arts: Mixed Media, Printmaking

Much of my current work is mixed media with an emphasis on printmaking, collage and painting. Inspired by literature and influenced by my environs, I often create works that are thematic, frequently including references to my favorite motifs: blackbirds and bare trees. I produce a limited number of block prints whose themes and subject matter are often reflective of those contained in my paintings. While my mixed media work is known for its color and air of spontaneity, the prints, which are mainly black and white, have a more graphic look. Having a dual focus allows me to work with the qualities of each medium to its best advantage. The delicate transparency of watercolor and the vibrant color of pastel along with tactile elements of collage can combine in a painting that is rich in emotion for both the artist and the viewer. The simplicity of a small block print belies the thought and planning that go into the final image. “In all of my work I strive to reach a balance between design and idea and hope that in each piece there is just enough left unstated to evoke more personal interpretations.”

John Comunale

John Comunale founded Comunale Sculptural Concepts in 1991 and has maintained his 3200 square foot studio at Canal Place for the past twenty-five years. During that time, John has built many things. Animate or inanimate, you name it, John can build it. What Comunale does is craft thoughts and dreams into reality. John works primarily in stainless steel but is a master in most any workable material, be in copper, aluminum, wood, fiberglass, or plastics. Corey Conway

Immersed from birth in a ridiculously diverse array of rhythm & blues, jazz, funk, soul, and rock, Corey Conway, an Akron, OH native, has recently established himself as one of the most exciting and tasteful guitar players in Northeast Ohio. Main influences include: The Meters, Vulfpeck, Lettuce, Soulive, Ray Charles, Galactic, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, JJ Grey & Mofro, Stevie Wonder, The New Mastersounds, James Brown, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Anderson .Paak, and Snarky Puppy, among countless others. His rhythmic resumé includes bouts with the internationally acclaimed Sean Carney (blues), Jovan Wilder & the Wild Things (neo-soul), Nesta (reggae), The Bel-Airs (oldies/early rock n’ roll), The Conway Brothers (blues/funk/soul/rock) and most recently, Mo’ Mojo (zydeco). Conway, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, is currently gearing up for the 2019 release of some brand new original raw/heavy funk instrumentals, in addition to a new album with Mo’ Mojo.

Allen Cruz

Singing and performing was always the plan for Chicago native, Allen Cruz. Songwriting became a focal point while he dabbled in different bands through-out high school. After going to college for musical theatre, Allen set his sights on creating high energy pop rock in Canton, Ohio. In his adventures navigating through his new environment, Allen found Josh Huddleston, Ben Stover, and Andy Cernava to breathe new life and style into his solo acoustic songs. Josh is an incredibly smooth electric blues guitarist with a sultry voice inspired by the famous John Mayer. Ben adds energized room filling drums with a passion for rock and country. Andy completes the band with creative skill and knowledge of the bass guitar, and a non stop smile on stage. A year of playing wineries, rock clubs, dive bars, birthday parties and weddings led The Galaxy to record their first album in 2014 called, “Talk About the Moon.” With big-band jazz inspired songs like, “Hugs n’ Kisses” to the angry Latin rock tune called, “Mirrors” The album has received high praise online, “Overall, this is an album that is enjoyable for multiple generations.
