Ben Gage

Performing Arts: Music

Ben Gage grew up in the rust belt of Northeast Ohio, spread out in the countryside along the great Lake Erie. His roots run deep alongside the hard working blue collars that Ohio has to boast. That tenacity, love of family, and respect for a long day can be seen in his music. Music has always been a way to tell a story for Ben. The best story sets aside the complexities and focuses on honesty. You will find yourself feeling as though you’ve heard his songs before even if it’s your first time. You have your usual suspects, such as heartache, love gained and love lost. Beyond that you will hear songs sang to the wind, stories about being a hammer, and how time has changed each generation. To him music has always been a social endeavor. On stage, Ben often teams up with Matt Dunkelburger (Fiddle) and Brant Novak (Upright Bass). You will also notice Ben has some trouble making up his mind on what instrument to play, so he just does it all at once.

I want you to be the real you. I want your photos to reflect that. I want your photos to show who you are. No prom poses. We'll only capture the true moments and genuine expressions.

Puspa Gajmer

My name is Puspa Gajmer and I was born in Bhutan, known as the happiest country of the world, even though it forced more than 100,000 of its people to leave their birthplace because of ethnic issues and prejudice in the 1990s. I lived more than 22 years in Refugee camps with gathering thoughts, but gaining nothing other than stress and anxiety in the exile life. I have been in the US since 2011. I am happy to live in Akron, a beautiful city of international communities. Life was just a dream while living in refugee camps for more than two decades; but, here in the land of dreams where we can do progressive things to community, society, and much more . With all this in mind, I had a mind to establish the Himalayan Music Academy in 2016. In HMA anyone can learn and pursue lots of things. We have been offering such studies as eastern and western music courses, Nepali dances, Yoga/Reiki, and Nepali Language, to members of the Bhutanese community as well as people from the local community. Classes are offered on weekends and Wednesday from 9 am to till 5:30 pm. I compose music and direct the orchestras at the Academy. We are available for public performances.

Anne Geraghty

Anne Geraghty lives in Stow, Ohio with her husband Mike, their two children, Luke and Isabella, and two dogs— Stella and Han Solo. Though mostly self taught, Anne has had some formal art education from the Art Institute of Phoenix. She also has an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Glendale Community College of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University. She currently owns and operates A-Squared Art, where she is a freelance artist hosting private art events, taking commissions, teaching beginner watercolor, acrylics, and drawing to youth, and hosting public sip and paint type events. “My favorite medium is watercolor. I love collaborating with my clients and interpreting their vision. Although I do check in with my progress frequently throughout completing the commission, the final reveal is such an exciting point. Their vision has come to life. I grew up admiring a coffee table book that my parents had, by Robert Bateman. I love his realistic woodland creatures and have always been amazed by his skill. Our family pets were Scottish Terriers, and I showed horses, so these were the first things that I learned to draw. Dana Giel-Ray

Bellabor Art Jewelry is an artists’ studio and gallery located on Main Street in Hudson. Being a working studio, you are welcome to stop by and chat, and see the piece I am currently working on. Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted, and a-one-of-a-kind artwork to wear. I am currently working in the technique of Maille, or Chain Mail, where individual rings are woven together to form a mesh or chain. Each piece begins from many feet of wire, which is wrapped around steel rods of different sizes to form long coils. The coils are then sawed apart into rings. Sterling silver is the metal I prefer to work in, but I do use other metals as well. Armed with two pairs of pliers, and a design in mind, I begin weaving the rings into a work of art. You might know the word chain mail from suits of armor worn by knights in battle. I am using the same process that made those suits of armor, but my designs are made for the modern woman looking for some individuality. My designs can range from the simple to the complex, and commissions are always welcome.

Charlotte is a scenic and travel photographer. She specializes in a landscapes, cityscapes, travel scenes, and candid street photography. She has a degree in Anthropology from the University of Akron. From 2011 to 2017 she lived and photographed in Europe. Today, she lives in West Akron with her husband, dog, and two cats.

GodBrother

GodBrother is a Funk Rock band from Akron, OH. GodBrother consists of Cory Bandrowsky (Vocals, Guitar) Mark Jendrisak II (Drums), Ian Brockway (Percussion), and Will Cardina (Bass). GodBrother began in 2015 in a small basement on the outskirts of Akron in a town called New Franklin. The founding members, Cory Bandrowsky and Mark Jendrisak II, have been playing music together since childhood. Their parents are the legendary Tracey Thomas and Mark Jendrisak of Unit 5 and the Tracey Thomas band. They grew up playing music with the best that Akron has to offer, and intend to keep it that way. Cory and Mark dreamed of starting a band that would combine the elements of Blues, Funk, and Classic Rock that they were raised playing together. This is GodBrother.

Samantha Grace

Performing Arts: Music

Samantha Grace is a Cleveland-born singer-songwriter currently based out of Akron, OH. Her songwriting branches over a wide variety of genres and pulls influence from punk, R&B, and bedroom pop. Her vocal performances are often compared to Dolores O’Riordan and Kathleen Hanna. She draws influence from The Runaways and Kate Bush. She looks up to Tegan and Sara, and King Princess as modern influences of genre-bending queer talent. Her song “Kiss N’ Tell” was featured on Akron Recording Company’s “Where the Hell is Akron, OH Vol. 2” compilation, and her song “Light it Up” was featured on “Where the Hell is Akron, OH Vol. 4”. In addition to her own project, she currently plays synth and sings in the band “Big Pop,” plays keys and sings in the band “Benny Lava & The Guavas” and performs as Kate Bush in the cover band “Hounds Of Love.” As a reiki master and newly certified yoga teacher, she is working towards music and yoga/reiki fusion workshops in the future, collaborating with Yoga Squared in Highland Square. Her new EP, “Five After Midnight,” is due to be released sometime before the end of 2023.

I am a self-taught artist who draws inspiration from my worldwide travels. I was raised in South Africa, where I traveled extensively within South Africa & surrounding countries as a youth & gained a love of bright colors & design from gazing at the amazing decorated huts & beaded jewelry & traditional clothing of the indigenous tribes. I traveled to London, England as a young adult, where I lived for 13 years & traveled within the UK, namely Scotland, where I was born, and Wales, where most of my family lived , where I explored my Gaelic roots. I also traveled to many European countries & fell in love with all the Public art in Barcelona & the Gothic churches in Germany. Now settled in Stow, Ohio with my husband & children, I am exploring my creativity with mediums, while also nurturing my passion of helping people and the environment with volunteering as a scoutmaster, putting together free take-home craft kits for local farmer’s markets with a focus on reduce, reuse, recycle & chairing our elementary school’s reflections program. I also offer workshops for adults & children locally & have been actively involved in getting art programs to people safely during CoVid-19, working with the local Parks & Rec on a watercolor Paint your pet kit, as well as the SMF Public Library on Adult To-Go crafts.
